7 Books I've Gifted

I might be biased, but books are a fantastic gift. But even (or maybe especially) for the person who reads a lot, it's hard to know what book to get. However, when you go for books about other things and interests, it's a lot easier to find something the reader on your list will enjoy. For example, not every book on the list below is a sit-down-and-read-it type of book. Instead, they tackle hobbies and other genres - as well as some literature - and help add some variety to the shelves.

Platters and Boards: Beautiful, Casual Spreads for Every Occasion

I gave this book to a friend after many months of obsessing over charcuterie boards and all they have to offer. We've even talked about having a charcuterie party, but have yet to put Platters and Boards to good use. Side note: this book is a great hostess gift and goes well with a cute cutting board or some amazing, specialty cheeses.

Dinosaur, Dinosaur, Say Good Night

Children are especially easy to buy books for. You might run into the issue of whether or not it's already in their little home library, but for the most part, there are tons of books to choose from -- and occasionally, doubles are not necessarily a bad thing. Dinosaur, Dinosaur, Say Good Night was given to a friend and her son. It's cute and perfect for bed time, and features dinosaurs, so how can you go wrong?

Booze & Vinyl: A Spirited Guide to Great Music and Mixed Drinks

When you know someone who loves music and cocktails, you give them Booze & Vinyl as a wedding present! This book is cocktail, beer, and wine-pairing for music lovers. And, of course, the gift accompaniments for this are endless; vinyl records, cocktail glasses, booze, or (as in my case) a spice rack. It was on their list so the present wasn't exactly coordinated.

Tequila Mockingbird: Cocktails with a Literary Twist

Another wedding/bridal shower gift for a bride who loves reading and doesn't mind the occasional cocktail. Tequila Mockingbird is fun to gift along with glasses, and maybe a gift card to a local spirits store, so they can dive into the recipes ASAP.

When We Had Wings

Just one of two novels that made this list, When We Had Wings was a requested book gifted to my mom. Still a risk since she wasn't positive she'd love it, this book turned out to be great and she burned through it. Now I'm on the war path to get her to read more historical fiction.

Four Hours of Fury: The Untold Story of World War II's Largest Airborne Invasion and the Final Push into Nazi Germany

A gift to my dad who, like other dads, really likes WWII literature. Four Hours of Fury is about one of the lesser known, but definitely interesting, parts of WWII, and definitely a good option for people who love details and military tactics.

Just the Ticket: Ticket Stub Organizer

This isn't a book at all; it's more like a three-ring binder. I love my Just the Ticket organizer and have stuffed it full of programs, tickets, bus passes, playbills, and other mementos. I've given this as a gift before, too, and it's perfect for people who love to adventure and gather keepsakes.

Happy gifting!
